SOUL FIRE: Minutes 9/30/2015
“We want live
words of the hip world live flesh &
coursing blood. Hearts Brains
Souls splintering fire.”
– from Black Art, Amiri Baraka
Hello
Soul Fire Thundercats!
What an electric meeting. Officers were elected, new soul fire poems were read, and a writing activity kept us on our toes. We now have two events to plan for, and our new officers will keep us informed about area open mics. It's a brand new day for our old flame.
We decided to begin workshopping performances for the following events:
Oct.
23 – Mural Project. We are to write/perform pieces about community,
family, history and revolution. Looking forward to hearing those efforts
next week.
Oct. 30 - African Cultural Night (hosted by the African Student Association). We should be prepared to read poems about Africa.
The
art department has expressed interest in with working with us. Details to
come when available.
